On 11 July place stones in public places with messages in support of Sakine and against stoning

11 July is the International Day against Stoning – a day we would do well to mark especially given that Sakine Mohammadi Ashtiani faces imminent death by stoning for adultery.

During the week of 5-11 July, take stones to your city centres, universities, workplaces, and put them in a public place, with a message in support of Sakine and against stoning and executions. Ask people to send letters of protest and sign the petition opposing it. Send in any photos to be included on the Iran Solidarity blog.

Let's end this once and for all.

BTW, here is a photo of an act Maryam Namazie had done a while back when Sakine was first sentenced:

  5. Monstrous insult to any civilised society, secular, religious or whatever. No compassion, love nor forgiveness. Typical of madmen immersed in nuclear arsenals of barbarism. What of the children? What of the mother? What of the witnesses to such horrors? Bitterness, barbaric and a total rejection of Islam will follow as a result. A male dominated unforgiving political idea no long a faith of Godliness .

  6. Thank you for beginning this creative public witness to get attention for a crucial issue of concern to people of faith around the world---if we were in her position, wouldn't we pray for people to take up our cause? So we must do as Jesus directed us, "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you".

  8. This form punishment is a crime against humanity!

  9. Surely the crime of stoning a woman slowly and painfully to death for adultery is far more heinous than adultery itself? Madness!

    ReplyDelete
  10. So, this self righteous government has condemned this woman for adultery, yet she stands alone in her condemnation and penalty. And they call the rest of the world infidels!

  11. As long as people believe in Islam in its traditional version, they will still continue to believe that such barabaric punishments are legitimate and commit them.

Let God change these men and their thoughts. He can overcome anything!! Blessings to Sakine and her family!! Lord surround her with Your Protection and LOve!!! AMEN!

  29. I thought this was the 21st century not 10 AD how can they say that its a peaceful religion when this still goes on. Its sick because it seems like they enjoy this stuff and that is just ......... there are no words and they wonder why people in the western world dont like Islam.

  30. These are hypocritical cowards that are dealing out these punishments. They also have double standards, considering nearly all Muslim men are unfaithful to their wives and regularly beat the crap out of them. If there are truly any decent Muslims out there, lets here you speak out against these atrocities, or do you really actually think that all your laws are Allahs wishes??? If he wishes this kind of punishment, he must be the brother of Satan.

  31. Is it correct that those who can free themselves have the sentence commuted, and that men are only buried up to their waists?

  33. Oh good grief have mercy do not make yourselves look to the world like this, your actually harming the image of Islam more then I think you realize. In a world so brutal and unkind already mercy is truly looked upon with great respect by people all around the world, and has the opposite effect if what is thought to be a unjust sentence is administered here, if anyone in power to help reads this please honorable and reconsider the sentence Please !
