Stop the tsunami of executions - add your name!

Add your name to the letter below or email us.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is the execution capital of the world. Already in 2011, it has executed at least 86 people after unfair trials and forced confessions under torture - three times last year's rate. It is the worst rise in executions since the regime's massacre of political prisoners in the summer of 1988.

There has been one execution every 8 hours and at least 8 of those executed have been political prisoners. Some of those killed by the state include: Zahra Bahrami, 45 year old Dutch/Iranian national who was arrested during protests last year, Ali Ghorabat for apostasy and Jafar Kazemi and Mohammad Ali Haj Aghaie for enmity against god. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani still faces execution.

We, the undersigned, demand an immediate end to this state-sponsored murder that aims to intimidate the protest movement in Iran and call on the United Nations and governments to exert pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran for an immediate and unconditional halt to executions. A regime that slaughters its citizens must face diplomatic isolation.

  1. It's sickening that the regime in Iran can perpetuate so much suffering on its own people. I hope with all my heart that they can be defeated.

In effect the international community is showing similar disbelief and slow motion action towards the Islamic state's cycles of ethtic cleansing of seculars and liberals in Iran, as it did towards ethnic cleansing operations in Balkan based on ultra nationalist supermacy ideas of ruling Serbs, Croats etc. It is time to expose mass executions of secular Iranians and if necessary to intervene by military force, should diplomatic isolation and sanctions not give any results...it hasn't since 1979! I am horrified beyond human expression to hear of such barbarous atrocities being perpetrated against humanity in general and indeed the courageous people of Iran in particular! Whilst we are praying fervently for the dispenation of God's Justice and Mercy, we are most anxious to know just how we might be able to help in a more tangible manner!

Please add my name to the petition!

  8. I have spent only two weeks in Iran, but that was enough to persuade me that nothing could be more alien to the sensitive, warm, hospitable character of the Iranian people than this murderous kleptocracy. Its self-righteous claim to be aligned with the new spirit sweeping across the region is an act of breathtaking hypocrisy. Please add my name to the petition.

  9. The bloodbath of executions and stone lapidation
in Iran, led by President Ahmadinejad and his government - has to stop at once. The people of Iran who thirst for liberty and freedom should follow the example of Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen and Lybia. The Middle Eas has at last realised that Israel is not the problem, and that it has been used for years as a scapegoat. The real problem is their despotic leaders and governments who enrich themselves on the backs of their own impoverished people. Iranian people take your fate bravely into our hands and revolt. Humanity and the world will be with you.

  24. Someone said -in recent years, that the two things that would finally signal the demise of Tyrannical Regimes world wide -were the mobile 'phone and women being given the vote.
I think they may be right. In the meantime, until that comes to fruition, we must all combine together to repeatedly shine the torch of truth onto the darker corners of these evil Regimes -where the word 'justice' is corrupted out of the language -the language itself, by the associated calumny, serves to act as a breakdown in honest debate and general genuine communication.

I am outraged by the executions in Iran, sickened by the slaughter in Libya, but no where do I see any sense of collective responsibility for or moral persuasion towards a definitive statement that we (The West)will not support dictators anywhere, anytime, anyplace. This of course includes the Theocratic dictators and their puppets in Iran.
