Please help our mother return home! Stop Sakine's stoning now!

Iran Solidarity calls on all to step up their protests against the impending stoning to death of Sakine Mohammadi Ashtiani.

Below is a letter from her children translated by the International Committee against Stoning:

Do not allow our nightmare become a reality, protest our mother’s stoning!

Today we stretch out our hands to the people of the whole world. It is now five years that we have lived in fear and in horror, deprived of motherly love. Is the world so cruel that it can watch this catastrophe and do nothing about it?

We are Sakine Mohammadi Ashtiani’s children, Faride and Sajjad Mohamamadi Ashtiani. Since our childhood we have been acquainted with the pain of knowing that our mother is imprisoned and awaiting a catastrophe. To tell the truth, the term "stoning" is so horrific that we try never to use it. We instead say our mother is in danger, she might be killed, and she deserves everyone's help.

Today, with nearly all our options reaching a dead-end, and our mother's lawyer says that she is in a dangerous situation, we resort to you. We resort to the people of the world, no matter who you are and where in the world you live. We resort to you, people of Iran, all of you who have experienced the pain and anguish of the horror of losing a loved one.

Please help our mother return home!

We especially stretch our hand out to Iranians living abroad. Help to prevent this nightmare from becoming reality. Save our mother. We are unable to explain the anguish of every moment, every second of our lives. Words are unable to articulate our fear…

Help to save our mother. Write to and ask officials to free her.

Tell them that she doesn’t have a civil complainant and has not done any wrong. Our mother should not be killed. Is there anyone hearing this and rushing to our assistance?

Faride and Sajjad Mohammadi Ashtiani

Iran Solidarity calls on all to sign the petition here and send letters of protest to:

  3. Thank you for allowing us to make our protests against this sheer act of merciless barbarism. No animal would be killed in this way in any society. When one gender is suppressed in a society, the society becomes toxic. I suggest that all the women of Iran go on sex strike until this and other injust 'laws' are outlawed.

  4. It makes my blood boil in disgust. I hope Iran will learn to become a secular society without sharia law.
If praying would do any good i would do so. But being an atheist I can only hope to do so much as posting here.
It´s so sad most of the human race has no real understanding what this universe really is (physics, chemistry, biology, evolution, mathemaics). There is no god. At least none I would like pray to.

  5. There is no place in a civilised society for this kind of disgusting behaviour. It is this mindless despotic intollerance that makes one question the existence of a superior being.

the HOLY QURAN says24:10The adulterer and the adulteress, scourge ye each one of them (with) a hundred stripes. And let not pity for the twain withhold you from obedience to Allah, if ye believe in Allah and the Last Day. And let a party of believers witness their punishment.

Stop all stoning which is a barbaric and uncivilised act.
release this woman Sakine Mohammadi Ashtiani and let her peacefully return to her children.

  11. Stop the death penalty and physical torture of humans in all countries.
Of course stoning is an inhumane and evil method of torture and punishment based upon an archaic rule of law that strips women of all human rights.
No human has the right to take the life of another for punishment for any crime.
Thankfully the Internet empowers the family to tell their story and express outrage with the entire world.

  15. We want to add our voices to this protest against the stoning of Sakine. She must be released to her children!
Stop the barbarbic treatment of women, Iran.
Societies that don't respect women are doomed to failure. Iran cannot prosper if its people are abused.

    ReplyDelete
  16. The higher authorities allow this to happen so they should be ashamed of themselves. What if some one wanted to stone the Pope for concealing child abuse, and I cant see him saying anything against it. After all the CHurch believes everything is god's will.

  17. Befor Iran can be considered a civilised society it must reform its medieval penal system. It is 15th century behaviour in the 21st century.
Stoning people to death because of what it says in a book!!! what can one say, primitive.

  18. Let God enact justice not savage sub-humans!

  19. The immutable nature of Islam and its failure to update its medieval attitude to women or to open any of its attitudes to criticism is principally responsible for this infamy.

SAVE SAKINE. GIVE THEIR MOTHER BACK TO THESE CHILDREN

NO TO STONING OR ANY CAPITAL PUNISHMENT!

NO TO THE EXECRABLE TREATMENT OF WOMEN IN ISLAM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!

NO TO ANY EXTENSION OF SHARIA LAW ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD!

  20. It breaks my heart to hear of this. I cannot understand man's inhumanity. I don't think the answer lies in anger, I believe that an education in compassion and empathy is needed. I don't belong to any religion and I don't understand 'faith'. It seems stupid to me.

  24. We should all be very concerned about the propagation of Islam in Europe in general and in the UK in particular. Doing nothing about this phenomenon, will surely encourage and lead evil to our civilization. Sharia law will follow Islam in no time. Wake up poor Europe !

The whole world is watching, hoping for compassion and common sense to prevail - stop this madness, and treat each other with respect and kindness. Every human life is precious and unique - follow the Golden Rule and DO NO HARM.

  27. This is really shocking. It is beyond imagination why Islam is so cruel to women. This type of barbaric punishment is not justified under any circumstances.... be it a man or a woman. I strongly condemn it and appeal to all those who are going to be associated in the perpetration of this sinful act to stop this madness.

  30. This particular case has been exposed to the media and will, if carried out, further underline the wicked, cruel, and sadistic nature of a truly warped religion. The vast human tragedy is that people the world over believe in this nonsense, and carry out these insane edicts in the name of their god. Just how devout do you have to be to select the right sized stone? Having an approved stone, exactly where should you aim it to inflict pain but not kill? We know about this tragic case, in Iran, because Iran has a sophisticated modern technology based society that cannot be entirely censored. Word gets out to the world. To think of the countries not blessed with such technology, such as Yemen, or a dozen other secretive hell holes, only underlines the evil of religious laws.

  31. It is extraordinary to see how vigorous Islam is in the UK when we hear of such cases as this. The only basis for the stoning is sharia law, which criminalises women more than men as well as promoting barbaric and shameful punishments

    ReplyDelete
  32. If these people had any real religious faith surely they would leave it up to their god to judge and, if necessary, punish this woman. But of course there is no god, only a cabal of self-righteous, brutal, utterly primitive zealots who act only to perpetuate their own pathetic priestly caste.

  33. It is approaching 400 years since we in Britain last burned people alive for real or imagined violation of religious dogma.
Fifty years since we last hung a human being by the neck until she or he was dead.
This is the measure of progress that the Enlightenment brought to our country.
There are plenty of people here who would move us back towards the barbarism of the Iranian theocracy. Speak out about the plight of Sakine Mohammad.

  34. Nee we need more proof thatl like all religions, but more fantatically so, Islam was devised by man to enslave women.

  35. FREE THIS WOMAN NOW CONVICTED ON A TRUMPED UP CHARGE
Firstly WHERE in the Koran is stoning listed as a punishment ???? Secondly what else should one expect from a religion that destroyed the world leadership Arab nations held in mathematics and learning 2000 years ago, where would we be now if that knowledge was allowed to flower

  36. the good people's comments made me cry, no one could or should believe that stoning a woman to death is justified! FOR GODS SAKE STOP THIS DISGUSTING PUNISHMENT. Its extra shocking that the so called reasons for stoning woman are to say the least are true! I THANK GOD I WAS BORN IN ENGLAND

  39. Dear Muslims and non-muslims, stop begging to these arrogant barbarians for mercy. Instead you start reading the Brutal "Quran and Ahadiths" which are the main sources of these kind of hate-rates. It will reveal the real face of Islam and it is meant only for the barbarians. So study it and take oath to eradicate this sinful Islam from our beautiful earth. Until then we have to sacrifice so many precious lives.

  40. Dear Shaid Ali Khan.
I appreciate your strong belief in Islam. I am a muslim and feel shame to call myself a muslim after reading and analyzing our Quran and Hadiths.

It is strange to know that the Quran which we have today is one of the 7 versions of the series of Quran during Muhammad's time. One or more of such versions had the stoning verse in it. Unfortunately it is not in our present version of the Quran.

Read Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith Vol-5:188, Vol-8:803,804,806,810 which elaborates the practice adopted by Muhammad in this connection.

Above all, Muhammad recommended to his followers to deceive, tell lies and cheat the believers and non-believers, so as to protect his political cult system. There is no any kind of divine or spiritual cause in his version of Islam.

As a supporter of Islam you can write anything as you wish, in your name, in this free society. Whereas, I am, as an apostate of Islam can only write as anonymous. Refer what the Quran tells about those muslims who reject their faith in Islam in the following ayahs 2:256/3:90/4:89/9:5 and there are number of barbaric Ahadith in this connection. If it is the case of a muslim apostate, then think about the fates of Kuffars.

Is this not a proof how violent our Islam is? Don’t get angry what the others say about Islam. Instead READ the Quran and the Hadiths.
